PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Exploring Making and Responding strands for the Drama subject of the Australian Curriculum. Teachers participate in quality, research-based professional development. This is dynamic and engaging PD with a difference.
Lightning Strike can:

to implement authentic drama based opportunities.
The success of a good teaching career is in continually developing skills, ideas and personal experience, invigorating your content knowledge and becoming the content expert.
These PD workshops will give you confidence to know you are addressing the needs of students and catering for differentiated classrooms.
The workshops provide you with:
- A range of ideas and activities to use immediately in the classroom
- A focus on the use of drama strategies to address the needs of your educational setting
- An initial consultation, unique design, full workshop notes, feedback and follow up.
These PD workshops will support staff developing good arts practice.

WORKSHOPS
FOR STUDENTS
Drama in education workshops for students in K–12. The workshops include making and responding to drama in education; mime; stagecraft; or text development. Workshops can also be designed for your specific context.
The workshops immerse students in communication skills and self-expression and support each child to develop their unique voice through creative and active engagement.
- For young children these workshops build on the Early Years Learning Framework.
- For primary students the drama workshops will provide purposeful and creative play in designed activities.
- For secondary schools students specialist workshops are designed to add to your drama program for example, workshops in mime, stagecraft, interpretation of text and voice.
Devised performances can also be arranged over a series of workshops. Students will brainstorm, improvise, devise, script drama, rehearse for a specific theatre performance.
These workshops support your literacy objectives of speaking, listening and writing. Creating future voices is a passion of Lightning Strike and the basis of these workshops. They provide a safe environment and are fun as well!
DEVISED
PERFORMANCES
Sessions will use improvisation, original ideas, crafted planning and guided directing to create performances with a difference.
Devised performances can help all kinds of groups work together.
Do you have a special group that you want someone to work with on a specific project?
Do you have a group that needs to be empowered or transformed?
Do you have a cultural story to tell or want to engage an audience?
Why not consider a devised performance that can be realised through a series of workshops?
Here participants will:
- brainstorm
- improvise
- devise
- script
- rehearse
- perform original works.
These performances support learning by using a story narrative; exploring dramatic tension, symbol and dramatic genres; and working with design elements.
This is a complete authentic drama experience to engage students and other groups and provide opportunities for creative expression.
Devised performances support the Australian Curriculum in the Humanities and Social Sciences as students explore different perspectives, make informed decisions, problem-solve, develop identity and work collaboratively.
